Since we're on the subject I guess it's wise to point out that some second-hand Epsons are sold without that MF film holder even if it's supported - either because it was not originally included with the particular variant of the scanner package or because it was lost or thrown away by an owner who didn't need it. The v550 can do two 6 x 9, so I presume it’ll do four 6 x 4.5s. The medium format gate provided with the V500 is 58mm x 123mm, so you should be able to scan two 645 negatives (maybe three? I dunno) in one pass. I need a scanner that will be dedicated for some 645 MF film. I believe the main practical difference between it and some newer models is a different holder for MF film, which limits the number of MF negatives you can scan in one pass. I've been happily using a V500 for years. Is there a reason why you specifically need a V600? Earlier Epson models are readily available second-hand. As I was about to get an Epson V600, I just noticed the prices are totally unreasonable currently as they seem to be out of stock.
